Basic History: Thyme is a perennial sub-shrub that is widely cultivated. The ancient Egyptians used it for embalming. Historically, it has been used to relieve various ailments such as asthma, coughs, and stomach pains.

Culinary Uses: In cooking, thyme is commonly used in French, Italian and Caribbean cuisine. It is a common addition to bouquet garni, basic soup stocks, and many fish and meat marinades. Thyme enhances the flavor of just about any vegetable.
