Native To: Warm temperate regions in the Northern Hemisphere
Basic History: Savory is found in two types—summer (an annual) and winter (a woody perennial).
Culinary Uses: Of all the cooking herbs, savory has one of the strongest flavors. As a tea, it has been known to alleviate coughing, sore throat, upset stomach, and diarrhea. As a kitchen herb, it is used in butters, beans, flavored vinegars, soups and winter vegetables.
Flavor and Taste: Savory has a salty, sweet and spicy taste and scent.
