Native To: The majority of commercially available blueberries are native to North America.
Flavor, Aroma and Taste: Ripe blueberries will have a nice, lightly tart flavor. They are a bit less sweet than relative huckleberry . Their sour and juiciness is less than a blackberry.
Brief History and Culinary Uses: Our good friend up North, Maine, is the largest producer in the world. Some recommendations from some proud berry growers: Eat them raw, puréed, juiced, dried, in jellies, jams, blueberry pies, muffins, or added to snack foods or cereals.
Nutritional Info: Blueberries contain compounds that have been shown to possibly have a role in reducing risks of some diseases, including inflammation and certain cancers.
